At IBC 2022, we announced our acquisition of Slidekamera, which brings an even wider choice of motion and robotic solutions to MRMC’s broadcast offering. The move cements a long-established development partnership between the two companies.

Slidekamera is a manufacturer of motion control devices, tools and accessories for the film and TV industry, based in Gdansk, Poland. With many customers all over the world, Slidekamera delivers off-the-shelf solutions and custom designs for both individual filmmakers and large studios.

A big part of MRMC Broadcast’s offering is focused on PTZ enablement, essentially providing robotic movement solutions for PTZ cameras to allow more creative shots to be achieved with these simple robotic cameras. Central to the strategy is the importance of expanding the product range while providing wide market access, particularly through MRMC’s established reseller channels. The acquisition of Slidekamera delivers on both of these counts.

Paddy Taylor, head of broadcast, MRMC, explained: “Slidekamera has been providing various products and components to MRMC for some time. We have formed an excellent long-term working relationship, and it has become evident that they are a great fit to add additional value to MRMC’s offering. Together we can help to improve and develop new solutions to meet the demands of our customers.”

“Slidekamera has a number of solutions that complement the Broadcast market, from PTZ motion control enablement to a range of film and commercial products and accessories. Therefore, we felt that in a number of areas, rather than developing our own in-house solutions, it made sense to formalise our partnership so that we can take our joint products to a wider market,” Taylor added. “Additionally, the acquisition provides MRMC with a number of new robotic heads at a competitive price point. This is something that our reseller channel often requests, and we believe that this now gives us the most complete set of robotic solutions on the market.”

The process of evolving solutions acquired from Slidekamera has already begun, including the integration of MRMC’s AI system Polymotion Chat with Slidekamera’s robotic pan/tilt heads, as was successfully demonstrated at IBC.

Taylor said: “We also see excellent potential for products like our Automated Jib Solution (AJS-1) which could be paired with the X-Head from Slidekamera giving us options for manual control as well as the automated solution it currently provides. Slidekamera is very well regarded by its customers, and we will continue to serve those selling Slidekamera branded products through their current sales channels as well as offering the same products with support for MRMC’s ecosystem badged by MRMC. We believe that this will be a winning combination.”

The MRMC team is delighted to welcome the entire Slidekamera team to the business and looks forward to working with them as they continue to manage the business from their design and manufacturing centre in Gdansk.
