THE VISION

The core idea for the car commercial revolved around creating a video that showed a domino-type effect in 360° circular fashion. Most sequences needed to be captured at 300fps and each segment required stitching together in post-production. Given the technical nature of the shoot, the team decided that the high-speed precision and repeatability of BOLT would be perfect to capture the director’s vision.

THE CHALLENGE

The initial challenge was tackling a series of complex shots that needed three repeat pass movements with Bolt™.

This required the cast to perform multiple actions within each sequence, in order for the final output to look as though it was taken in a single continuous shot. This is where the Bolt comes into its own, as once the moves are programmed in Flair, the sequences can be repeated precisely over and over until the necessary shots are captured.

The editing process also carried some challenges, as the duration of each plate was about 150-240 seconds long. The sequences captured by Bolt were therefore stitched together (along with adding 2D and 3D elements to further enhance visual cues) to create the final TV commercial.
