Behind the Play: MRMC Broadcast At The LA Clippers Arena

The LA Clippers have recently made an upgrade at their new home arena, Intuit Dome in California, and chose MRMC Broadcast’s PTA-2 robotic head and Pan Bars. The camera system enables them to capture dynamic reverse shots for the big screen, enhancing the experience for fans in every seat in the stadium and at home.

To maintain clear sightlines and minimise the footprint, the Clippers opted for our PTA-2 robotic heads for their Sony P1 and CJ24, paired with our low-latency Pan Bars located in the control room approximately 50 meters away. This setup enables operators to control the system remotely, utilising Pan Bars for intuitive and real-time operation. Because all MRMC systems are IP-based, they offer low-latency and highly accurate control without the need for direct connections. The Clippers were able to seamlessly integrate our robotics into their existing fibre infrastructure, linking the control server to the robotics through their current fibre tie lines.

Complementing the hardware is our RoboKam software, which allows operators to control not only the PTA-2 systems but also the 21 Panasonic PTZ cameras in the arena. This powerful software enables quick camera switching, fast preset recalls, and precise adjustments, ensuring smooth and efficient broadcast operations throughout the game or event.

The PTA-2 robotic head is engineered to support heavier broadcast cameras and lenses, delivering exceptionally quiet operation that is ideal for both studio environments and live sports coverage. This remote production solution gives the Clippers precise control and seamless flexibility, ensuring every key moment is captured from optimal angles. Most importantly, this innovative setup maximises fans’ enjoyment by delivering stunning visuals without obstructing their view of the action.
