It’s the small details that make Nikon and MRMC such a great partnership

When it comes to the Nikon Z9, the important bits are there, 8K, 12 BIT RAW, live 10 BIT HDMI output and Genlock, which I think is unique in a mirrorless camera like this.

There are lots of people out there trying to get their hands on a Nikon Z9, I had a handful of people ask about it at NAB because it is such a great camera, particularly for video. I am not going to wax lyrical about it here, you can search for reviews from people that know far more than me but I will say it’s the first camera that has dragged me away from my Canon 5D MKii (the original A7s was close).

The important bits are there, 8K, 12 BIT RAW, live 10 BIT HDMI output and Genlock, which I think is unique in a mirrorless camera like this.

When I was going through the different workflows of the MRMC QRS-01 (our new quiet rail system) with a potential customer they pointed out that they would need to use a broadcast camera or upgrade their FX6 cameras to FX9 as they would need genlock (there is a sync input on the QRS and all MRMC PTZ heads for use with virtual graphics etc).

Well, the Nikon Z9 does have genlock. It was added by Nikon to help us with the complex workflows we need to deploy MRMC Pods and other products in and for situations just like this where a customer is looking for a cost-effective, full-frame solution and wants complete flexibility.

It’s these small yet significant features that (like here) go unnoticed, but that makes our relationship with Nikon so great. They are constantly pushing the envelope with the DSLR and mirrorless bodies not to mention their lenses and we can take those add movement and enable users to tell their stories in ever more creative and dynamic ways.

Attending Infocomm? Well, make sure to stop by stand #N1374, where we will be exhibiting the Z9 alongside the QRS-01 rail system with our distributor partner, Broadfield.
