The Arri 3 has been used in the past for motion control as a low cost Arri camera option. Two configurations are availabe when using the camera, either full motor control, or simple start and stop mode.With full motor control a specially adapted camera motor is attached, which allows the motion control software to have full control of the camera at any speed from 0-50FPS, including full animation features. The camera can only be run forward, not reverse.

With simple start and stop control, the software can only start and stop the camera at its pre-selected speed. The software fully synchronises to the camera to allow multiple pass shots to be created as with full contol, but one cannot shoot animation. The Cinematograpy High Speed adaption can be used in conjunction with the start/stop control.
