Recently the Music Video Production Association
hosted a motion control seminar at Camera Control in Santa Monica. The
seminar was the best ever attended MVPA
seminar with close to 100 attending. The audience was made up largely
of Directors and DPs, and the response was phenomenal.
Speaking at the seminar were:-
Simon Wakley, who gave a highly
informative breakdown of different uses of motion control. His talk
included a live demonstration of scaling with the Milo and
members of the audience participated in a demonstration of the Grip-Sticks,
that allow you to push the Milo like a normal crane, but then
replay the motion.
Ramaa Mosley - Director of "Five
for Fightings" Superman Video spoke about her experiences
using motion control for the first time. The video was shot in
Vancouver with Jerry Andrews of Command Post/Toybox
at the moco helm.
Glen Bennett - Director. Prior to
becoming a director, Glen has 15 years experience in post production.
Glen showed some highly involved uses of motion control including the
rough cut of his "Drowing Pool" music video where
members of the band interact with themselves.
Andrew Orloff - CG Supervisor at 525
gave a valuable talk on integration motion control with CGI
saying how easy it is now to combine the two.
