Mark Roberts Motion Control have exhibited newly developed equipment at a number of shows recently and there are some more major exhibitions in the coming weeks. First this year was the British Society of Cinematographers exhibition which was the first public outing for the new Modula' Rig track and bearing rails. Then came Cinegear, which saw the Modula' Rig track and bearing rails enjoying the Los Angeles sunshine and wowing the crowds with its speed and precision. With track speeds in excess of 10 feet (3 meters) per second and superb acceleration

This month MRMC will be exhibiting at BIR-TV in Beijing. If you plan on being there then please let us know as soon as possible. On the stand will be Ulti-heads, track and various controls, including our Flair motion control software.

And finally next month will be the annual IBC convention in Amsterdam. *** Track & Lift Column on Modula' Rig ***

Mark Roberts Motion Control recently delivered the first Modula' Rig lift column to TPS in Poland, http://www.tps.com.pl . This system is designed to be a lot more portable than our larger systems and works directly with the popular Ulti-head. We made a brief web-movie of the system which you can view on the Modula' Rig webpage: http://www.mrmoco.com/Products/Rigs/ultihead_with_Modula_Rig.htm

If you want to see the system personally then why not visit us at IBC where you can get a demo of the unit.

*** SIGGRAPH 2007 Best of Show Award for ARK  ***

The new short animated film "Ark" by Grzegorz ‘Greg’ Jonkajtys (director, producer) and Marcin Kobylecki (producer), has received a number of awards this year including the Best of Show award at SIGGRAPH 07. Shot using the Milo from Platige Image mounted (as you can see in the photos) with a digital stills camera, the film was produced as a collaborative effort with the crew based in Poland and in the US. Greg who normally works for CafeFX, produced and directed after-hours from the US, while Marcin, based in Poland oversaw the Milo production. It was shot using a Nikon D70, with special software to trigger the Milo motion control system and the camera.

The film talks about a man trying to save the last remaining healthy humans from a deadly virus outbreak. He has arranged to gather the healthy few on these big ships, and travels the ocean in hope to find disease-free parts of the Earth. Suddenly, he finds out that he himself is sick. The virus managed to come aboard the ship, but what he doesn't know though, is the true essence of the disease. This is the story.

This is not the first award-winning film for staff from Platige Image, who's credits include an Oscar nomination for The Cathedral, and the critically aclaimed Fallen Art.
