During the recent
filming of SFX sequences in Harry
Potter, The Mill/Warner Bros used motion control for an
estimated 70% of the scenes. A combination of 3 Mark Roberts Milos
and a Cyclops were involved. In addition to the camera another feature
requiring motion control was the movement of Harry Potter’s
broomstick. This was filmed using a large high-speed model mover, part
of the Mark Roberts Cyclops system.
Harry
Potter also took advantage of the common trend for pre-visualisation
on large productions. All the scenes were pre-visualised on 3D graphics
workstations. Then the data was directly transferred to Flair
(Mark Roberts Motion Control Software) running the motion control rigs.
